The Quan Yin resting comfortably after a long journey
from China to it's new home in North Miami, FL.
It will eventually be surrounded by the structure of
the Oakwood Residence which in turn is surrounded by the protective embrace of the many Florida Live Oaks. |

The Quan Yin will be temporarily housed in a
protective enclosure while the remainder
of the building is constructed.
Since there will be a lot of paint and stucco and
other construction materials Peter and Thao felt
it very important to provide a safe temporary housing
for the venerable statue.
Quan Yin is commonly known in
English as the Goddess of Mercy |

The temporary housing is nearly completed
with two hinged doors on West face.
Upon occassion, the doors will be opened for guests,
visitors and viewers and especially for
Thao's observance and prayer ceremonies.
This enclosure may be there for more than a year
while remaining construction takes place. |

FORMING THE SUPPORTING BEAM (clockwise from top left)
(1) A whole lot of steel required to reinforce "the beam" to
support the Quan Yin. (A steel suppliers dream project. The whole house
has a large amount of steel reinforcing that can only make the
supplier very happy).
(2) The concrete crew pour high strength concrete (aka "mud") to form the beam and surrounding pond.
(3) The platform is formed, poured and curing for the requisite
28 days to come up to the required strength to support the 12 ton
statue and base.
